With the demise of Ishwarbhai, we have lost a true gentleman whose life-long mission was the service of humanity.

His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj

IK was an unassuming man who left a lasting impression on all those who came in contact with him….. a giant amongst the Indian community. His message to our community was always clear: It was unity. He strove hard to bring different factions together; he almost always succeeded where others failed… Charities have lost a very good friend. Time will never erase his memory. Tears are no longer appropriate. All of us must do our utmost to get involved in and assist the I K Foundation as our sincere tribute to that great man.

Never before have so many Indians got together to pay their homage at the final rites of anyone in the UK as those numbers that assembled to bid farewell to their dearest friend, IK. His manner, his smile and his work touched the lives of thousands of people in Britain and elsewhere. He conveyed a unique expression of love and devotion. I'm quite certain that the work IK Patel did will be continued by the IK Foundation. He would have recoiled in modesty at the merest thought of the suggestion during his lifetime; but now that he's no longer with us, the foundation is the only worthwhile way for us to remember such a good man.. a man who left the world a better place that he found it.

Keith Vaz MP

I am impressed and very happy that the friends and admireers of IK have prepared a fitting tribute in the form of the IK Foundation and I wish it well.

Dr. L M Singhvi
High Commissioner of India

Saheb may not be physically with us, but he is with us in spirit. Those who knew him well remember him with deep reverence and will say " I wish I could do even one tenth of the things he did." IK's contribution to various organisations involved in human service activities in the UK, East Africa and India was immense. He would sincerely and totally selflessly help almost all projects presented to him for education, health and the development of the community. We must all do our utmost to keep his memory alive. The IK Foundation is the most suitable way to achieve this and to continue, in his name, the many good works he himself used to do. It is the duty of all of us to support it.

In my humble opinion, IK Patel was one of the most talented bankers I've ever had the pleasure in meeting. He dealt in many currencies, sterling, dollars and the yen. However, the primary currency he dealt in was emotion. He lived his life with love, sincerity, integrity, kindness, dedication and loyalty, which built up such trust in his relationships that these in turn empowered him to mobilise and achieve his mission to serve the community to the highest degree.

Jasminder Singh, Chairman

Shri Ishwarbhai Patel whose qualities of health and heart endeared him to the Indian community… I found in him a noble soul, a public-spirited community leader, a sincere devotee of Shri Pramukh Swami and a warm hearted friend. His death is a grievous blow to all of us and will be wildly mourned in the UK, Indian and East Africa. I always held him in very high regards and was privileged to have known him well over so many years. He will be very much missed by so many people from all walks of life.

The Rt. Hon. Sir Rhodes Boyson MP

Pujya Shri IK Patel was granted the honour of being made an honorary Sikh by the Sikh community of Mwanza, Tanzania, 40 years ago. This was to salute his dignity, uncorruptible character, modesty and humility. He always thought of the needs of the others before his own. His priority in life was to serve others, silently and without seeking any recognition or any praise to be sung of him. He embodied love, affection, devotion, dedication and service to humanity.

I.K. Patel was one of the finest, gentlest and noblest human beings I have ever met. The Asian community is immensely impoverished by his absence. I was struck by his range of interests and the quality of his humanity. His close friends included old and young, men and women, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Muslims as well as other Asians and non-Asian. He was the moral conscience of our community, and since our memories of Ishwarbhai can never die, he has attained that rare stage of immortality.
